Working together to be the best that we can be.
Some roles are just jobs. This one is more than that.

Penn Hall School is a specialist school with heart. We serve 151 children and young people aged 3 to 19, all with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, and every single one of them matters deeply to us. Our ethos is warm, our expectations are high, and our commitment to improving life outcomes for every pupil is absolute.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. You do not need to have worked in a special school before. You do need to genuinely care about making a difference.

What the role involves:

You will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to support pupils in their learning and personal development. Every day looks different. You might be helping a child communicate, supporting them through a challenging moment, celebrating a breakthrough that nobody else would notice but you. That is the work. It matters enormously.

What we are looking for:

An NVQ Level 2 in Teaching Assistance or equivalent, alongside GCSEs in English and Maths. Experience of working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with severe learning difficulties or autism, is welcomed but not essential. What cannot be taught is patience, warmth, and a genuine belief in every child’s potential. If you have those, we want to hear from you.

What you will get in return:

A supportive, close-knit team who will have your back from day one. Relevant training and development to help you grow in your role. The privilege of working somewhere that genuinely changes lives, including your own.

We welcome pre-application visits. To arrange one or find out more, contact Helen Duffy on 01902 558355 or at hduffy@aatrust.co.uk.

Closing Date: Monday 12th October 2026 at 9am
Interviews: Week commencing Monday 19th October 2026

To apply, complete the application form and return it to Helen Duffy, School Office Manager.

Penn Hall School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are an Equal Opportunities employer.
