Our Governing Board
Welcome to the Governor section of our website. I am the current Chair of Governors at Penn Hall School. I am a parent of a former Penn Hall student who left school in 2020 having been at Penn Hall for 16 years and he has now successfully moved onto College in Shropshire. I am a solicitor at a local Wolverhampton firm and am a former Co-Chair of Wolverhampton’s parent carer forum Voice 4 Parents.
The Governors at Penn Hall are responsible for overseeing the management side of the school including making sure there is a clear vision and a strong ethos and to give strategic direction. We work to help the school to run as effectively as possible, working alongside the headteacher and senior leadership team in supporting teachers to provide excellent education to our children. We also oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure that its money is well spent.
At our governing body meetings we consider issues such as setting the school vision, managing finances and scrutinising educational outcomes for our pupils. We are also involved in the school community, acting as critical friends to the headteacher and senior leaders.
The events of 2020 have been challenging for all but the school’s new leadership team worked tirelessly with the staff over the Summer to put in place new measures and working groups (known as “Bubbles”) to ensure that school could fully re-open in September to all pupils in a COVID-safe way. This worked extremely well and is being constantly monitored and reviewed.
The Governing Board is working with the headteacher and leadership team to ensure that Penn Hall and its students can continue to thrive and be outstanding in all their achievements and to ensure that the School’s Improvement plan is implemented, monitored and reviewed on a regular basis.
